Corporate Leadership: Step Up to the Plate!

By Effenus Henderson, President and CEO, Henderworks and Co-Chair of the Inclusion Allies Coalition Advocacy Committee

Corporate Leadership: It’s time to step up to the plate. It’s time to publicly reject hate! In a time when many leaders are silent regarding the senseless massacres in a growing number of workplaces, we need corporate leadership to speak up – to their employees and stakeholders.

Send a message to the President and Congress. Tell them that such acts are unacceptable and that inclusive, respectful and immediate action is needed on all fronts, especially in Washington, D.C. Chief Diversity Officers also should advise their company leadership on ways to respond to growing bias, hate and bigotry that is finding its way into our workplaces.

Employees should expect their leadership to understand this growing threat and act. White nationalism is unacceptable and we must hear from leadership. Employees want to feel safe and respected. Talk about it.

The Pledge: I call on CEOs and Chief Diversity Officers to reaffirm their commitment to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion through a rejection of white nationalism and hate.

Communicate this commitment and rejection of white nationalism to the President and Congress.

America, we are better than this! Will your corporation honor this pledge? Please share with your leadership.

Please enter your personal response/pledge in the green comment box below and let us know what your organization may be doing to respond.
